How to use T4 to generate strongly-typed AzMan wrapper

This article provides a brief overview of AzMan and demonstrates how several existing APIs can be used to perform authorization checks in .NET applications. It then discusses shortcomings of the current APIs and demonstrates how T4 templates can be used to generate a set of C# classes and enumerations that wrap AzMan COM API and allow application developers to write strongly-typed authorization code.

	Essential Windows Communication Foundation (WCF): For .NET Framework 3.5 (Microsoft .NET Development Series) by Steve Resnick

	Code Complete, Second Edition by Steve McConnell This book provides a comprehensive description of best practicesfor professional software engineering from coding prospective.

	Debugging Microsoft .NET 2.0 Applications by John Robbins Only 3 of 8 chapters in this book are about debugging. The remaining chapters are about John's favorite development tools, methods and debugging war stories. Despite of this minor annoyance, I think the 3 chapters alone make the book well worth its price.

	Design Patterns: Elements of Reusable Object-Oriented Software by Erich Gamma, Richard Helm, Ralph Johnson, John Vlissides This is the book that launched the term "Design Patterns". Published in back in 1995 it will remain invaluable for as long as object-oriented systems are in use.

	Framework Design Guidelines. Conventions, Idioms, and Patterns for Reusable .NET Libraries by Krzysztof Cwalina, Brad Adams This book introduced the approach of use case driven framework design. It is an expanded version of the Microsoft's guidelines for .NET framework class library developers.

	Information Modeling and Relational Databases by Terry Halpin This is a definitive book on Object Role Modeling. ORM is a methodology for conceptual data analysis and database design. Unfortunately, ORM doesn't have recognition it truly deserves.

	Programming Microsoft ADO.NET 2.0 Core Reference by David Sceppa This book takes you from basics to advanced topics in a very logical and easy to follow manner. Very comprehensive and easy to follow coverage of ADO.NET.

	Rapid Development by Steve McConnell This book provides a comprehensive description of best practicesfor professional software engineering from project management prospective.

	Refactoring: Improving the Design of Existing Code by Martin Fowler, Kent Beck, John Brant, William Opdyke, Don Roberts This is the book that launched the term "Refactoring". You might think of it as of "Maintenance Patterns" to emphasize its similarity to the "Design Patterns" and its importance.

	Refactoring Databases: Evolutionary Database Design (The Addison-Wesley Signature Series) by Scott W. Ambler Applies ideas from Martin Fowler's "Refactoring" to relational databases. Introduces the concept of transition period into refactoring process.

	Software Estimation: Demystifying the Black Art by Steve McConnell This book describes major methods of software project estimation. Easy to read, practical, great book.

MSDN Magazine MSDN magazine is one of the best magazines about Microsoft development technologies. It publishes about two dozen of great articles every month.

Steve McConnell Steve is one of leading experts and an author of several bestselling books about software engineering. He finally started blogging in March of 2007 and promised to write about software development "occasionally".
